Baby Gear Galore

My friend Mya was laughing at me the other day because I still didn't have a car seat for the baby, but yet almost everything else is done. She was like, you know they wont let you leave the hospital without a car seat right? Hahaha, but in my defense I did order one two weeks ago and I was just waiting for it to arrive. I am happy to say that UPS dropped it off today! So now, I can bring my baby home : ) I also called the fire department today to set up an appointment to get it installed. I ended up choosing the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 in the color pictured to the right (Titanio, which is a silver and black). It wasn't my first choice for car seats, but was the only one compatible with the stroller I wanted...

Which is the 2009 Peg Perego Pliko Switch! This stroller has everything I wanted. If you click on the link, and scroll through the pictures you can see all the different features of this stroller. I LOVE the fact that baby can face you or away from you, that the whole seat comes off and it works like a snap n go with the car seat, and it has a very large basket for all those bags ; )

I took advantage of a great cyber Monday deals and ordered it today, for 75 dollars off retail and free shipping! Very excited about that and I cant wait until it arrives so I can play with it!

And last but most certainly not least is the diaper bag I ended up getting. I bought this Fleurville Lexie Tote in Botanical Azure a few months ago because they had it for an unbelievable price on mamabargains.com for 68.00!!! This bag retails for around 160.00, so even though I would have liked to have the black and white print better...I just could not pass up that deal.

I love the look and functionality of the Fleurville bags, so I cant wait to be carrying this little number around in the near future!

Nursery Sneak Peak and Opinions Needed!

Tomorrow we are putting up this tree on the wall behind the crib, but before we do we have to make a final decision on where exactly the crib will be!

Option #1: Right up against the wall. This really opens up some of the floor space, in the beginning we thought it made the room look even more narrow...but now we kind of like it.

Option #2: At an angle. This was out first choice, but now after moving it right up against the wall we cant decide!

Remember the tree kind of hangs to the left, so it will sort of hover over the crib on that side (which is why we chose that tree opposed to others that were more symmetrical).

So what do you think?

Oh and I think that the chandelier really made the room (or course it is not done yet) but I LOVE it so far! More pics to come as we make progress.

34 Weeks!

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers -which will help regulate her body temperature once she is born-are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever.

How far along? 34 weeks...wow!
Total weight gain/loss? 25 pounds up
Maternity cloths? All the time, and even some of them are getting tighter.
Stretch marks? None yet :::::crosses fingers::::::
Sleep? Horrible. It is so hard to get comfortable. Between waking up to switch sides every 30 min. or so because my hips are throbbing, and having to pee, good sleep is nothing but a distant memory.
Best moment last week? Well Thanksgiving of course!
Movement? Lots!
Food cravings? Really really cold milk (which again is weird because I normally don't drink milk)
Gender? Girl : )
Labor signs? Nope, still daily BH contractions though. I have been noticing some more painful like cramps now and then...but I think its just my body getting ready.
Belly button in/out? Out
What I miss? Sleep
What I am looking forward to? Seeing my baby, I am starting to get really excited!
Milestones? Making it this far!! Babies born after 34 weeks usually have no long term side effects and do just as well as full term babies. Not that I want to see her anytime in the next few weeks, its just nice to know if she did need to come her NICU time would be short.

Boring Blogger

I know I have been a boring blogger lately...and to be honest I just haven't had that much to blog about. Shocking right? But on this eve of Thanksgiving I thought I would jot down some things I am thankful for.

I am thankful for:

My beautiful daughter, she is healthy and happy and is all I could ever ask for!

My husband, he has given me so much to be thankful for.

Being pregnant and getting ready to complete our family!!!

My family, even though they drive me crazy sometimes.

My life! We are all healthy, we are financially secure, and we have each other...what more could a girl ask for?

I hope every one of you has a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Spend time with those you love and be thankful for all the good in your life : )

33 Weeks!

This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds and has passed the 17-inch mark! She is rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and her skeleton is hardening.
How far along? 33 weeks
Total weight gain/loss? Up 22 pounds at my last OB appt. I go again Monday, so I am sure it's more by now.
Maternity cloths? All the time
Stretch marks? None yet...praying this trend continues
Sleep? I am pretty much tired all the time now, my energy has plummeted. Carrying around all this extra weight (remember I gained 20 pounds while going through fertility treatments!) is hard. Sleeping is challenging. I am pretty uncomfortable at night and well I cant remember the last time I got a full nights sleep.
Best Moment last week? Finding the most perfect chandelier for the nursery!
Movement? A lot! I feel a lot of rolling movements which is interesting.
Food cravings? Milk! Other than that, nothing really.
Gender? Girl
Labor signs? Nope, just a ton of braxton hicks every day.
Belly button in/out? Oh that thing has been out!
What I miss? Not having heartburn...is a daily battle.
What I am looking forward to? Completely finishing the nursery...I really feel like this will never be all the way done. Ugh. Its a work in progress, but its frustrating me. I cant do most of the things that need to be done at this point (hang the chandelier, change the electrical outlets, etc,) and my DH is very busy, so the only time we have to it is on the weekends and it seems like something always comes up. Slowly...but surely..it will get done.
Milestones? I had my first realistic dream about the baby last night. She was so cute...she had lots of dark brown hair and big blue eyes. She weighted 7 lbs. 6oz and was born without a middle name!

The Carrie Diaries!!

So after browsing through my daily blogs the other day, including all my celebrity gossip ones, I discovered this little gem in the works!! Candace Bushnell (the creator of SATC, and one of my favorite authors) is currently writing a prequel to Sex and The City series called The Carrie Diaries! It will focus on Carrie in her high school years, how she became a writer, and of course her fashion! The book will be out April 27th, 2010, and then the SATC2 movie will be out May 28th, 2010.

So lots of sex to look forward too!

Because I LOVE Christmas

I grabbed this little survey from Stacey's blog. I am so excited that the beginning of holiday season is upon us! I love everything about Christmas, it is defiantly my favorite holiday...besides my birthday of course : ) So here is a little about what Christmas means to me.

What does Christmas mean to you and your family?

Christmas to us is all about family, happiness, giving, and the kids! There is nothing better than than seeing and hearing the excitement in Kay's voice leading up to Christmas. NOTHING! It makes the holiday so much more fun, and honestly I want her to look back on her childhood like I do mine, and have the BEST Christmas memories possible. I love the shopping, the gift wrapping (its a slight obsession), and gift giving. Seeing the look on others faces when they get something they really wanted is priceless. The music that fills the air, the smell of yummy candles burning, the decorations...I love it all!!

Have you got some traditions?

We have lots of traditions! It really starts the day after Thanksgiving. We watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Every year since I was a little girl I have watched that parade on TV. Every single year! So I made sure that every year once I had Kay that I would continue to do that same, and she loves it! We set the tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving..no sooner, no later. Last year, we all dressed up in our finest Christmas attire and went to see the The Nutcracker Ballet downtown and plan to do so every year in December (so this is a new tradition). We always go to my grandmothers house a few weeks before Christmas to bake cookies. We always drive around and look at Christmas lights, and of course we always go see Santa!

Christmas Eve we always spend at my grandparents house, eating, drinking, and being merry! We also exchange gifts. Its nice to have all the cousins, aunts, uncles, and kids together...and at our house, there is never a dull moment!! For example; last year we had italian christmas music blaring and my crazy aunt Julie was dancing around like she was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars! Hilarious!

After we are home, Kay will put a trail of "reindeer food" (oatmeal, sugar, cinnamon, and last year we left some carrots too ; )) leading up to our house so the reindeer's know where to go. She leaves her letter to Santa, cookies and milk out and we read The Night Before Christmas!

Christmas morning is always spent at our house, opening gifts, and hanging out in our jammie's. My parents usually come over, and we just hang out playing with all the new stuff, opening toys, etc. Then we head to the in laws for dinner and gift exchanging with them in the evening.

What will you cook?

Well in my family, Christmas Eve is all Italian and always has been!! We have a traditional italian meal with spaghetti and meatballs, eggplant parmesan, a huge garden salad, bread...lots of bread, and an assortment of yummy italian cookies and other deserts. Christmas day however, is more of a traditional holiday meal, usually with a ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, that sort of thing, and at my in laws we usually have tamales!

Who will you spend it with?

We spend it with most of our families. Christmas eve is with my parents, my brother, my grandparents, cousins, some aunts and uncles. Christmas day is with the in laws; my DH's parents, his brothers and sisters and their kids!

Got a favorite Christmas memory?

That's really tough! I have lots of great Christmas memories...but really every year since Kay has been around has been extra special!

How are you decorating?

Our tree for the last 3 years has been decorated in purple and gold. We will probably stick with that this year and maybe switch it up next year. I haven't been really able to decorate outside much because of our ongoing construction, but I always have a wreath on the door and lots of decorations inside!

Note To Self

I, Lisa, vow that I will never take the following things for granted ever again:
  • My waist, no matter what size it is!
  • Being able to stand for longer than 10 consecutive minutes without feeling like my knees are are going to buckle or my feet are going to explode
  • Crossing my legs
  • Pants with zippers
  • The freedom of being able to play and cuddle with Kay without constantly guarding my belly for the fear that if I don't my unborn baby will have brain damage
  • Sitting up or rolling over without having to strategize first
  • Putting on socks, or shoes
  • Tying said shoes
  • My ass not swallowing my underwear
  • The power of antacids
  • Sex. Mindless, thoughtless, do it any way you like it sex!
  • My lung capacity
  • And last but certainly not least, being a woman. Getting to experience all these things and the truly amazing, mind blowing capabilities of a woman's body. Such amazing things your body is able to do (all on its own!) to grow and nurture a little precious human being. Absolutely incredible!!

32 Week Bump Shot

I have to admit when I saw this picture I was like OMG!! My belly is HUGE!!! I mean, I never really see myself from this angle. No wonder why people think I am going to pop at any moment! Can you imagine if I had twins in there?! It would be impossible for my body!

A Surprise U/S, a Breech Baby, and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

I had a OB appointment yesterday and I mentioned to the nurse that I was unsure where the baby was laying now. I could tell this last weekend that she had moved at some point (she was head down at 28 weeks) because I was seeing lumps and bumps in different places, and also she is kicking in new places. I knew she had moved, so after a quick external exam of my tummy she pretty much knew that the baby was not head down anymore. So she wanted to do a quick u/s to see exactly where baby was. Sure enough little baby M is in what they call a "complete breech" presentation. Basically, as the picture shows she is sitting indian style with her butt and feet at my cervix, and her head up in between my rib cage. Little booger! So they instructed me to lay on my left side when resting or sleeping to encourage her to flip back down. As long as she turns back by 36 weeks we are good. If not they will schedule the dreaded word C word, and I really really don't want that. I am not too worried about it at this point, as I know she has time to get back down...so we'll see what she decides to do! If anyone had a baby that was breech around 32 weeks, when (if ever) did your baby flip? Did you do anything special to try and assist them in getting head down?

Other than that she looked great and boy has she grown so much! I gained 2 more pounds (I think) for a total weight gain of 23 pounds. I was also able to finally get my H1N1 shot that I have been whole heartily searching for on a daily basis. I swear trying to get this vaccine in my city has been impossible!! My OB's office still has not gotten any in, but knew of another OB/GYN near by that has an ABUNDANT supply. They were taking walk-in's so right after my appointment, I marched my happy pregnant self right on over there like they were giving away free cars or something! Made my whole day!

Oh and P.S. my ticker is now down to 59 days!! Less than 60 days people! WOWZA!

Baby Shower Recap

Can I just start out by saying that I have then greatest friends and family EVER! My baby shower was amazing and it was really nice to just see and spend time with those close to me. Everyone was so generous and I am so grateful to have an amazing bunch of girls that I can call my friends! So Sunday came and the weather was beautiful. My shower was held on a covered patio at a local golf course, it was so beautiful! We had a light lunch with cute little mocktails served in martini/champagne glasses, so me : ) It was perfect!

My BFF Kendra (who is 16 weeks pregnant!!) came out from Los Angeles and really helped with the final preparations of the shower...I don't know what I would do without this girl.

Earlier in the weekend I hurt my left foot really bad. It hurt to walk, much less in shoes so I wore my slippers to the shower location with full intentions of changing into my shoes when guests started to arrive. Well....that didn't happen! I wore my slippers the whole time! It was kinda funny because of the dress I was wearing, no one knew unless I pulled my dress up. It was kinda of a little joke because I wanted to see if anyone noticed : )

Kay grabbing one the the delicious cupcakes that my grandmother brought. They were YUM!

To my surprise some of my friends had got together and each brought a onsies that hung from a cloths line. Each had a cute little tag custom made from Kim (the paper queen) that said who it was from. Kim also had matching rhinestoned shirts for Kay and the baby that said "Big Sis" and "Lil Sis" hanging on the line. Such a cute surprise! Thanks girls!!

Me and Kendra bumping bellies!! Enough said!! Weeeeeee, we're having babies together! Who would have thought after everything I have been through and how different our lives have been that we would be pregnant at the same time. Its amazing!

And finally here is a picture of me with my grandma, mom, Kay, and mother & sister in law. I love my in laws, they are awesome!

The Name Game

I was sort of on the fence about even posting this...only because its totally not fair for you readers!

The baby DOES have a name (well a first name, but its a start!), but it didn't come easy! If you remember me and my DH could not come to a middle ground and find a name that we both liked. And actually, he never once suggested anything, only rejected all the ones I picked. I had about 10 names or so, and he didn't like a.single.one! It was really really hard for me to even come up with that 10, and most of them I wasn't "thrilled" with really. His whole take was once we see her "it will just come to us". Ummmm.....yeah right buddy!

So eventually I got sick of her being nameless. I really started to feel like she needed a name for me to be able to start to identify her as a real person, not just the baby. So one day, one of the names on my list just sort of stood out to me. THAT was her name! Its almost like when you find your wedding dress, and you have that ah-ha moment and just know that's the one! DH didn't really like it. He said it was too short...too Italian...too this...too that. And you know what I said..."well you'll get used to it, because that's going to be her name!"

Fair?

No...not really...but hey what did he expect me to do?

So that's how she got her name : )

I am sure you are all wondering, well what IS IT? And this is the un fair part...I cant tell you. I know, I am mean today right?! The thing is that this is the internet and I don't share Kay's full name (no, its not just Kay if you were wondering!) and I don't feel comfortable posting names and such on the internet for my own protection...there are a lot of weirdos out there!! I hope you understand. It starts with the letter M though : )
